TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Steven Stamkos scored his league-leading 41st and 42nd goals of the season and added an assist as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Saku Koivu and Bobby Ryan both had a goal and an assist for the Ducks.

Tampa, Florida --  Metropolitan Ministries is celebrating the official grand opening of its new storefront cafe in downtown Tampa, Inside the Box.

At Inside the Box, they're thinking outside the box.  Here's the concept:  When you buy a fresh, healthy lunch for yourself, you are also

The cafe at 505 North Tampa Street, at the corner of Madison Street has fed 1,500 needy people since the doors first opened three weeks ago.

The concept was developed by Metropolitan Ministries Executive Chef Cliff Barsi, who also teaches a culinary program at the Ministries. 

It started as Inside the Box Catering about a year ago, with seed money to grow from a $25,000 grant the concept won through the Hillsborough County Children's Board Social Enterprise Business competition.

The catering company was so successful, helping to feed 8,000 homeless people, they decided it was time to expand.

Tampa, Fla. -- Tampa Police are searching for the suspect(s) that has used several debit cards from various people and withdrew money from their accounts. 
Police say the victims still had their debit cards in their possession so it is unclear how he, or they, got their information and

The withdrawls were taken from The Palm Bank, located at 300 North Franklin Street on Jan 22 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

YBOR CITY, Fla. -- Thousands of people packed Ybor City Saturday night to watch the annual Knights of Sant' Yago's Knight Parade. More than 100 floats, along with marching bands and cars, made up the parade, which stretched along 7th Avenue from Nuccio Parkway to 22nd Street.

The crowd was mixed with those who have come every year to first timers. It seemed everyone, though, wanted to get their hands on beads. Some even developed somewhat of a strategy.

"I'm letting my girlfriend do the work out here. She's catching them and I'm just putting them on," said Bryan Byak.

"We're standing by kids. And you know, when you stand by kids, they send all the beads their way," said Ilia Crawford.

Many were just happy being able to enjoy music and the floats.

"I think it's a fun night. It's a fun, fun night. It's fun for everybody, no matter what age you are," said Eva Frederic.

Phyllis Busansky has served as Hillsborough County’s Director of Aging Services and Director of Human Resources, as Executive Director of Florida's Welfare-To-Work agency. Ms. Busansky served on the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners, and as the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections before her death in June, 2009.  Ms. Busansky was instrumental in ensuring improvement in the quality of life of Hillsborough County Residents.

King spoke at the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory, which is located at 522 N. Howard Avenue in Tampa. 5,000 people showed up for the evening event despite bomb threats.

In the 1A state final, played at USF Corbett Stadium, the Tampa Prep Terrapins got a pair of goals from Jordan Hayes and won 3-0, over Evangelical Christian of Fort

In the 2A state final, Berkeley Prep and West Shore HS of Melbourne, went to a second overtime when West Shore scored, to pull out a 3-2 victory.

Tampa, Fla. -- Design on the Adamo Drive Mural Project will take a big step forward Saturday during a meeting at Hillsborough Community College in Ybor City. Once complete, the mural on the side of an Adamo Drive warehouse will be the largest in the city.

Design will begin on the Adamo Drive Mural Project in Ybor City on Feb. 18, 2012. The public-private effort between the City of Tampa, Hillsborough Community College Ybor Campus, and local businesses has been in the planning stage for the last 2 years, but will be completed by June 2012.

 

The Adamo Drive Mural Project will create a giant mural depicting the culture, heritage, and vitality of Ybor City and Tampa.

 

A team of 14 HCC student artists led by artist and Hillsborough Community College adjunct instructor Michael Parker, will meet for the first time on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at HCC Ybor Campus.

This Saturday night, February 18, is the Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago's Pin Chasers Knight Parade on 7th Avenue in Ybor City.

It starts at 7 p.m. and goes east on 7th Avenue, from Nuccio Parkway to 22nd Street. Shops and restaurants in Ybor City will remain open all evening, and there will be free spectator viewing all along the parade route. Bleacher seat tickets are on sale at www.knightparade.com.
