Pinellas Park, Florida -- The public is invited to attend the 2nd Annual Fire Truck Pull benefiting the Be The Match Foundation.
This event will take place at the Walgreens Store #7157 at the corner of Park Blvd and 66th Street in Pinellas Park on Saturday, May 19.

...more fundraising event runs from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.
Those interested can form a team to pull the fire truck for just $100 per team.  The goal of the district 100 firetruck pull is $20,000.
Each year 10,000 patients need a marrow transplant but have no donor match in their family. They depend on Be the Match to help them find an unreleated donor and receive a transplant. Help us pull out a second chance at life for someone.
Family friendly games, face painting, and photos will be available along with food for a small fee.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The public is invited to attend "Shadows of the Mind" ballet performance.

This event will take place at the Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 19 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

PINELLAS PARK, Florida (AP) - Six World War II veterans received France's highest honor in a ceremony in Pinellas Park.

The veterans were awarded medals Friday deeming them knights in the National Order of the Legion of Honor for their service liberating France. The ceremony in
...more Pinellas Park puts the veterans in the company of other famed Americans, from Thomas Edison to Alexander Graham Bell, who have been given the honor.

France has been holding similar events around the U.S. to honor veterans who fought on French soil during World War II.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The public is invited to join the Classical Christian School for the Arts annual Graduation & Silent Auction.
This event will take place at the Performing Arts Center of Pinellas Park on Friday, May 18, from 7 till 9 p.m.

The evening will include patriotic and classical orchestra, various dance routines in full costume, and a display of visual art by the Classical Players and their teachers from CCSA.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- I met Josh at Freedom Lake Park and within minutes, he let me know he is a big football fan. He says he would love to play in the NFL one day.

Josh is 11 years old, but he talks football like a seasoned vet.

This football fan is also pretty opinionated.  He tells me the Buccaneers had a terrible season last year because they didn't work hard enough.

But he sang the praises of Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman, telling me he's versatile with his running and throwing abilities.

He likes Tim Tebow but predicts  the former Denver player will have a tough time adjusting to being a New York Jet.

To find out if he was really serious about playing football, I put Josh to the test and had him run through some drills.

Admission for each evening show is only $8 for adults. Dancers ages 21 and under get in for only $5, with ages 12 and under free. The dance is from 8 - 11 p.m. at the Pinellas Park Auditorium, located at 7690 59th Street North.
Guest are asked to bring snacks to share with other dancers, such as cookies, fruit, and other finger food.
A beginner's lesson will take place for those wanting to learn the basics of contra dance at 7:30 p.m.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson announced Wednesday that tax collector offices are preparing for an increase in customers from the upcoming closure of two state driver license offices, making the tax collector the sole driver license provider in Pinellas

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has announced its St. Petersburg office in the AAA building will close April 25. The remaining DHSMV office, located in Pinellas Park, is scheduled to close June 29, as a result of legislation passed in 2010 that requires tax collectors to assume all driver license services from the state.
“My offices have been issuing driver licenses since 2001, and we are in a good position to handle the extra customers once the state offices close,” Nelson said in a release. “I am confident we will continue to provide outstanding customer service to our Pinellas County citizens.”

Kenneth City, Florida- The CiCi's Pizza on 66th Street in Kenneth City reopened Thursday following a two month closure after voluntarily closing to treat a roach infestation first discovered by state inspectors.

The restaurant was originally shut down January 25 after the State
...more Division of Restaurants documented roaches all over the kitchen including on top of the ice machine, under the pizza conveyer near the buffet line and even in a case of napkins. 

The state eventually cleared the restaurant to reopen the following day, but then one week later, 10 News documented live roaches still in the restaurant during a live broadcast February 1st.

CiCi's management says over the past two months the restaurant has concentrated on correcting any issues and remodeled from the ground up.  Earlier this week they scored a perfect inspection from the state.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- Local high school students interested in a career in public service may now apply for scholarships to help with their future college education.
The scholarships are sponsored by the Public Service Education Foundation of Pinellas Park and by Chapter 14 of the
...more Korean War Veterans Association.
The foundation hopes to grant up to $10,000 in scholarhsips this school year for students to use for college courses or other recognized professional training leading to a career in public service.
Public service careers are available for all areas of government from local city and county all the way up to state and fedeal. Employment may include (but is not limited to) teaching, medical, police, fire, computer science or engineering fields.
To be eligible for the scholarships, a candidate must be a high school senior and resident of Pinellas Park, or attend high school in Pinellas Park.
