Cheapest gas in Seminole

Seminole, Florida - How does $3 for a gallon of gas sound? Right now, when the national average is riding at $3.73 it sounds pretty good.  Nevertheless, for most folks, $3 a gallon still pinches the wallet.  The good news is, some analysts believe we could see pump prices selling for...more $3.
With demand for oil still falling, there appears to be a glut of oil available. Going back to Econ 101, it's the case of supply and demand at work here. A weakened demand of oil pushes the retail price lower.
The state of Florida continues its trend of lower prices than the national average. On Sunday, we saw the state average at $3.60 a gallon.
In Seminole, we're seeing prices 7 cents lower than the state average and 30 cents lower than the national average.  Here are the top 3 filling stations to find the cheapest gas in our neighborhood.

Cheapest gas in Seminole

Seminole, Florida -- Retail gas prices continue to slide nationwide. The national average is $3.80 a gallon. 

Economist say it's likely to level off and possible increase again, as the oil refineries switch over to a summer blend.

In Seminole, prices at the pump continue to...more ride lower than the state average of $3.71. The Hess on Park and 52, the Marathon on Park and 54th, and the Cumberland Farms on Seminole and 54th are all selling for $3.51.

Suds up for a cause

Seminole, Florida -- Things are just rosey at Seminole High School.  It is for the Warhawk Marching Band, at least.  Once again, the band will represent the school and the Bay area in the Tournament of Roses before the 2013 Rose Bowl, but it needs some help getting there.

Another car...more wash to benefit to help raise money for the trip is set Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Ace Hardware in Oakhurst Plaza on Oakhurst Road. 

Anyone making a donation will receive 20 percent off coupons good for that day at Ace Hardware.

Hot dogs, chips, and cold drinks will also be sold.

Man charged with hate crimes against neighbors

Seminole, Florida -- A Seminole man was arrested in Montana Monday after police say he stalked and harassed his former neighbors, an interracial couple, with hate mail for almost two years.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Allan Dale Richter sent his former...more neighbors, Amy Query and Nathan Maingi, 20 hate-filled, threatening letters between July 2010 and March 2012. Some were sent by mail and others were left on their doorstep.

"It really triggered every emotion.  It was very scary," Query described.

A break in the case came when a partial fingerprint was lifted from one of the letters that matched those of Richter's, a nearby neighbor of the couple during part of the time in unincorporated Seminole.

"This person walked up to our door.  What else could they do?" Maingi described of the couple's thought process through the ordeal.

The couple says the letters completely changed their lives.  They installed security

Seminole, Florida - Tonight is the night.  Hundreds will gather to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.  

It's no easy task.  Those taking part will hoof it, pound the pavement, walk it out (you get the idea) for 24 hours.  It's time for the city of Seminole's...more Relay For Life.

400-walkers are expected to walk the track at Osceola Fundamental High School beginning at 6pm.  Each team member was asked to raise at least $100.  As of late last week, more than $37,000 was raised.  This years goal is $88,000.

Cheap gas prices

Seminole, Florida -- A penny lower. Four cents lower. It's a trend that has continued for 10 days. Gas prices at the pump continue a slow, steady decline. 

It's a welcomed site at filling stations and quite the relief as prices jumped 66 cents from Jan. 1 to April of this...more year.

The state average for a gallon of regular is $3.80. Seminole gas stations trend significantly lower. 

Sam's Club on Park and Belcher is selling for $3.54. The Hess on Park and 43rd and the Racetrac on Park and 46th are both selling for $3.57 a gallon.

Preparing for school

Seminole, Florida -- As parents, we always want our children to be as prepared for anything and everything as much as possible.  That includes school during the formative years.

The City of Seminole is offering a preschool program designed to get kids ages 3-5 ready for...more kindergarten. The program will help give them a little more edge with an emphasis on science, math, letter recognition, music and art. 

The cost for full time is $280 a month. The city prorates half-day and half-week schedules.
