Many will agree sitting down and writing out a heartfelt note or a letter is becoming a lost art, but for one Zephyrhills mother a letter from her late son was
...more delivered right on time.

Shirley LePage hates she never had a chance to say goodbye to her beloved son, Rick. The oldest of her six kids didn't die in combat, but from complications from cancer. He died suddenly at the age of 44.

LePage says, "I think he knew that he was not here for long and he worked very hard at making memories."

She says proof of that is when Rick graduated from bootcamp at the age of 19. He sent LePage a framed picture of himself.

Nearly two decades went by before a family member tried to have a copy made of it and when the frame came apart, a letter was discovered inside from Rick to his mother.

She says, "Rick was the type

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - They are images stirring controversy: photos of students with dog collars around their necks. The collars are historically used on dogs to prevent them from licking wounds after surgery.

Some see the photos as a harmless joke.  Others call it an act of
...more humiliation.

One Pasco County parent said, "I was disgusted, very disgusted.  Like I said, that's a human, not an animal. You're not spaying or neutering that person."

PHOTOS: Teacher puts ''cone of shame'' on students

The outrage stems from a teacher at a Zephyrhills high school, who's accused of using the collars as a form of punishment. Laurie Bailey-Cutkomp nicknamed the collar "The Cone of Shame," mimicking the Disney movie Up.

Some students thought it was funny. Tanisha Medina is one of them. She told 10 News, "She just did it as a joke and said she was gonna punish us by doing it. But, she asked us first and we were all laughing and joking

Zephyrhills, Florida -- A Pasco County school teacher is in trouble for putting a cone intended for pets around her students' necks.

Called Elizabethan collars, they are meant to be put around the heads of dogs and cats to keep them from chewing on themselves after they have
...more surgery.

According to a school district investigation, Laurie Bailey-Cutkomp -- a science teacher at Zephyrhills High School -- last month put a cone on at least eight students.

The whole idea came from the movie Disney-Pixar movie Up, which she showed in her classroom twice. In that film, a dog wears "the cone of shame" as a form of punishment.

In a letter recommending that Bailey-Cutkomp be fired, Pasco Superintendent Heather Fiorentino writes, "Ms. Bailey-Cutkomp, your actions show extremely poor judgment and concern me for several reasons. I am stunned that you would put dog collars on students for any

Speaking publicly on Monday for the first time since the Doughertys were sentenced last week in Colorado, Widner says the group got what they deserved, with each getting receiving at least 18 years in prison.

"All of them should spend a majority of their life, if not all of it, behind bars, in my opinion," Widner said.

In court, the trio apologized for their actions, specifically singling out police officers.

Widner says he's not sure if that's sincere, or they're just sorry they got caught. But one thing that said in court, he really has a hard time believing.

ZEPHYRHILLS, Florida (AP) - Police say a Walmart greeter did more than welcome shoppers to a store north of Tampa.

Zephyrhills police say 34-year-old Frederick Leon Gallimore arrived at Walmart with another man on April 16.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Gallimore clocked
...more in and began his shift. The other man, whose identity is still unknown, went to the electronics section. There he took two LCD screen TVs, valued at $476.

Police say Gallimore left the location where he's supposed to check customer receipts as the man walked toward the exit. They say Gallimore went to the parking lot and helped the man load the TVs in to a van.

Gallimore was arrested Tuesday on a felony retail theft charge. Jail records did not list an attorney for Gallimore.
